China 1949 One of a long series of 'Gold Yuan' surcharges resulting from the revaluation of the currency after rampant inflation after WW2. These stamps were validated for postage by the surcharge even though the original stamps were revenues. The $50 surcharge is known on both the $50 blue and the $300 green. I suspect yours is the latter, but it is difficult to tell from this photo.
