Hi,

I am new to the forum and have been researching the best album for my homeless stamp collection and have pretty much decided on the 3-Volume American Heirloom Standard Album - 1847-PRESENT. Based on reviews I've read here and elsewhere the binders don't seem to be terribly good quality and being a regular D-ring binder I could get one anywhere for cheap. My question is has anyone bought Mystics 1847-2001 US Definitive Album Pages? I was thinking if these are just the same pages that come in the heirloom album but cheaper without the binders than I'd rather just buy the pages and purchase a better quality binder to house them in. Any input would be greatly appreciated! (I apologize if this was in another topic but I searched and didn't find the answer).

Michelle :)

Hi mscspr,

Welcome aboard. I think you can buy the Mystic Heirloom 3 album set pages without the binder. There are other threads on here about albums and pages which might be worth a look. Also might be worth a call to Mystic.

Terry

You can definitely buy just the pages. I asked them that a while ago. If you call them up, they can give you the catalog number.

I contacted Mystic via e-mail about 5 months ago to ask about buying just the hingeless pages without binders, and this is the response I received:

Quote:
We do sell the albums without the binders. The cost is the regular cost of the album, minus $20.00. If you would like to order these, you would need to do so over the phone so that we can reduce the price for you.

Again, this is several months old, and the price difference may not be the same for the regular Heirloom pages. It may give you a point of reference, though. Give them a call or e-mail.

You can use this type of album to store the pages. This is what I use for my mystic pages. They are wonderful.

They have a variety of colors and amounts of albums. 2 for $49. up to a set of 5 for $115 They are great quality.

Thanks everyone! I emailed Mystic and they replied with the item number for the pages (1847-Present, Amer. Heirloom Pgs. - Catalog # GS705 $28). Ordered... Now I just need to buy and learn how to use hinges

Just to clarify, mscspr's first post states:

Whereas the GS705 pages referred to are for the entire US Album (both definitives and commemoratives):

Considering the complete album, with three (3) D-ring binders and 200 used stamps and a package of hinges goes for $39.95, the savings of $11.95 isn't all that much (a savings of less than $4 per binder):

I replaced my very old late 1960 vintage with this set back in 2008. In addition I bought two extra binders making it a 5 volume set. You will find loading these three up with stamps just doesn't work.

Volume one has been opened and close weekly since 1998. It looks just like ti did when I first bought it. So IMHO if you treat this set well it will last a life time,

To me it is the best value on the market giving you much more money for stamp. I find the actual pages well done and they too hold up extremely well.

Maybe some time prior to my death if they don't hold up then I might consider replacing the binders but from the look of it they will long out last me.

I wonder if anyone who has been doing their own supplemental pages for Mystic Heirloom would suggest a good paper to use for a close match in weight and color? I'd like to do some downloadable pages by Bill Steiner for US Revenues, etc and put them in Mystic binders, thanks for any ideas.
