I know nothing about stamps whatsoever other than the fact that they go on letters.

Can you tell from the photos if it is worth getting someone to take a look at this?

Looks like some fine stamps there, but not easy to tell in what shape they are; pictures are very small. If you can make some bigger scans?

The pics you have shown make it clear that someone who understands US stamps should take a look at this. Most of what you are showing is very common, used, and has little value. But the first picture has a couple of higher value (30c and 50c Columbians) which might have some value if they are undamaged. We cannot judge the condition from the pictures (not just because of size) nor do we have any sense of scope on what else you might have, but if the later pages in that stockbook just keep moving into more modern material, then the whole collection will come in at under $100. Whether or not it is worth it to have a stamp dealer in your area look it over depends on what else you've got and how hard it is to find someone.

We can give you hints on which individual items might be better, but they still need to be looked at.

[Forgot to mention: don't handle the stamps with your bare fingers.]

Thank you for your replies.

I don't hold any hopes of it being worth much, but over the last day I have done some reading up and I am suprised at how interesting it all is! I'd never heard of grills, perfs & cancels until now.

I am at work at the moment, but when I get home I could post some more images. The only close up image I have on here at work is this one...

You have a few decent stamps in that binder. Close-ups a must. Thanks for showing them.

I don't think the problem was with jayboyd. I think the moderator removed content from the initial post of Audrey850. I have no idea what the issue REALLY was, but I suspect that the temptation for newbies to offer things for sale is often high. Who knows? whatever.

OTOH earlier this morning there were at least four threads in this forum that were hit by spam, so someone is keeping an eye on us at the moment.

Essayk. I think you are correct about Audrey. A more appropriate note to put in place of her removed item would have been, "Item removed by Moderator. Please review the forum rules."

Those earlier spam items were annoying, weren't they? Glad they were removed so quickly.

I am in a quandry of why my post was pulled so I reread the rules! My post was to share some knowledge about the collection that I have inherited as I recognized a few stamps from Jayboyds from UK post questioning value of some stamps. I think the rule I broke was asking if he wanted to sell them or any of them. I will reread the rules again about buying and selling as I think that was my error. I apologize to the moderator for not understanding the rules. Please let me know if that was the reason. Thanks

Anyone can make a mistake like that. I hope you won't let it deter you from participation, since this forum is a great place to share and get informed about our passion for stamps. A passion I hope you share, or soon may.

In any case, welcome to the forum.

Don't fret, Audrey850! This is a very friendly forum, so maybe the response could have been worded a little differently, but I am certain it was not intended as such by the moderator. Who knows...they could have been sorting kiloware when someone turned the high-speed fan on! :-D We are all here to help one another. If you haven't done so already, please go to the "Introduce Yourself Here" thread and scribble a couple of lines. I missed that one after my first couple of posts, and had to double back and post there. Welcome to the forum and hope to see more of your posts! Larry

Sorry about the delay. As promised here are some close ups. I have no idea if there are any stamps here that collectors would find interesting, I have just posted some of the ones that look like they are older issues or have caught my eye (I like the Statue of Liberty one with the NY stamp dead center)

Nice Confederate States of America Stamp. It's the 10 cent blue in the next to last posted image. It appears to be CS #11 and possibly worth getting authenticated for the historical value.

There are known forgeries, which make the authentication absolutely essential at some point.
