The maximum charge for expertizing a stamp at the Greene Foundation is $40 and that includes your return postage by registered mail.
We use a fixed price because the Greene Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to serve philately and philatelists. The fixed fee is generally sufficient to cover the expenses incurred during the expertization process but it does, on several occasions each year, fall short. Contrary to your statement, we are not "into the 21st century" although we make ourselves aware of current happenings.

On a general note, I don't think that the forum is doing itself any favours offering opinions of authenticity based on scans appearing in postings. Optimized scans do not reveal rebacking, regumming, cancellation removals, added margins and other such philatelic manipulations. Consequently, I don't think it is fair to comment (good or bad) without a first hand examination.

Gportch, as first, excuse me because I didn't see your extended reply before. I would surely like to send some stamps to the authentication, but I would like to know some things which I was unable to find answers on the webpage:

1. Is the preferable method for send the payment from the overseas a cash wrapped in the envelope? Or payment could be made by PayPal or possibly charging my credit card?

I know that cash in letter is not "recommanded", even forbidden in some countries... but, is that the paying method which you are usually receiving from the overseas?

2. I am not familiar with the customs policy... but, are the papers which are included with the stamp, which is coming back, sufficient to the Customs that they will not tax me extra for my property which is just getting back after expertize?

Or you heard that some issues occured on that field in some countries?

3. You will need to specify some value on the Registered Mail form after you sending back expertized... or not? Is that some simbolical value, or you are specifying the real catalogue (or market value) of the stamp?

Thanks again.. I will follow now this topic more carefully.
