I thought I would share this postal cancellation with everyone. It was given to me by my mother in law since I collect stamps. It became even more interesting when I discovered it was a family piece addressed to my Husbands Great, Great, Aunt. As well the post office was only open for 8 years from 1910-1918... Yetwood Alberta
Alberta Stamper: what a great piece! The short-lived and now long ago dead post office (dpo) as well as the family connection make it all the more precious. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks cynical. The sad thing is that I didn't know where Yetwood was,,, as I researched it I found out It is only 30 minutes away from me. lol. The name changed a few times. When I looked up the post office under the archives I found out that a relative of my Husbands was the postmaster from 1912-1918.... The only other google reference that popped up about Yetwood was from novels written by Jeanette Oke.... Which is a relative as well that grew up in that area..
Hi Alberta Stamper: There is a write up on the Yetwood Post Office (Lomond, Alta. area)on Page 110 of "More Than Just the Mail (Vulcan County's Pioneer Post Offices)" by N.J. Aldred. (Perhaps I could send you a scan.) I'm trying to collect an example of all the postmarks that ever were in the County of Vulcan.
Rob. We can't exchange email until you reach 50 posts.... Are you from the area? Are you just collecting postmarks or all history of the area.. My inlaws have the lomond history book. Not sure about any other books. How many postmarks are out there for the area?
