Admittedly, I receive very little mail with stamps anymore, however, I thought this was interesting (even though smeared) as October 2013 is "Energy Action Month" as depicted by this slogan cancel:

Also interesting is that the Liberty Bell Forever stamp used on the cover is perforated on all four sides, suggesting that with a 2009 date, it is likely a Scott 4437 coming from an ATM pane of the stamps.

Does anyone know when the "Energy Action Month" slogan cancel was first used? I assume it started on or about October 1. Any other examples out there?

I rarely see cancels anymore (most of the stamps come to me uncanceled, usually presorted first-class, etc.). I would be hard-pressed to decipher that cancel.

If the stamp has a black 2009, then it is Scott 4128b. If the 2009 is copper, then it is Scott 4437. My notes say Scott 4128b die cuts start with a peak (slopes up) at the top left. Your stamp starts with a valley (slopes down). What is the color of the 2009?

Robert

[Edit] I just looked at my example of 4128b. The die cuts have a different shape than yours, and the corners are square. Your stamp should be 4437, just as you surmised.

Thanks for the info. And yes, the "2009" date on the stamp on my cover is copper in color, so it is a #4437.
