I don't collect many things that I see as purely philatelic. I have made the exception when it comes to the special cancellations for the Minnesota State Fair. They had an operating post office there from 1901 through 2012. This was the first year without. I have every year except for 1901. I have never seen a 1901 cancellation. The early years are fairly easy to find on postcards. I have some postcards from the fair prior to 1901, but they just have St. Paul or Hamline cancellations. I have gotten many at the State Fair post office myself. The majority of the rest was found in dollar boxes or small lots of covers. Some years I have a cancellation for every day that the fair ran. I rarely miss the fair and most years go twice. So if you have a 1901 state fair cancellation, I would love to see it. I may make even make an offer, but I am pretty frugal and believe some day I will find it at a decent price. I don't know too many people really going after these.
