Based on the stamps that were pictured, I would think it very likely that the Confederate stamp is a reproduction worth a whole lot less than $600.

I agree with the above comment. I didn't see anything very valuable and based on the reporting, the commentators don't have a clue about the value of the collection. Maybe the owner left it behind intentionally for a kid to find and start stamp collecting.

I suspect the more valuable stamps are not being shown so that not just anyone can walk up and say, yeah that's mine.
