Very nice stamps Michael. They look to be some of the very ones Jan-Simon was talking about!

The office was in a city 200+ miles away. My moving schedule got changed, so I ended up having to do it last month, mostly by myself. Almost all of it is packed up and moved back here. I had closed that office and handed over operations to the locals. Now I got to figure out where to put all that office stuff. My study room is full of stamps, and I'm not going to throw those away. Thanks for asking.

And now, back to the regular thread topic...

These two came together with the others.

Maybe they just missed the obliterator ??

Or maybe they were running short on ink? With all those Hitler heads printed, you'd probably run out of ink before you ran out of stamps!

I wonder if any pairs exists with one missing the obliteration?

I take it these are listed in Michel ? I think Jan-Simon made reference to this.

Can anyone confirm, I do not have a Michel, Germany catalogue.

I found these First Vienna Supplemental stamps on a lovely postcard.

But it just doesn't add up.

I thought I was on to something with the atypical obliteration. But the cancel dates are 1962?

I haven't measured the perfs or anything. (Don't have that ruler yet, I just got my first pair of tongs last weekend at NAPEX. Laughs.)

I'm thinking: Fakes, collector issue, etc. Perhaps real First Vienna Supplemental stamps, but the hand stamped obliteration and cancel dates make it seem suspect.

I'd love to hear what you all think!

The 62 is a number of a the Vienna postoffice were it was posted it is not the yaer.

The date is in the middle part of the postmark 02.VI.??

Sometimes text written on the card reveals the date.

Concerning the overprints: Do not expect perfection on how these look, but I do think these look ok.

I was thinking that these were from the First Vienna Supplemental issue, but after the date that they declared that postal clerks need to cover (obliterate) Hitler's likeness by hand.

These seem to have almost a grid cancel stamped across his face.

I understand that the instability of the times and the haste in which these stamps were re-purposed led to ..many.. variations.

I'll post more images of the postcard. But I didn't see any indication of a date...

The world is over run with these Hitler Head stamps ,back in 1968 while in college in Denver Colorado I was buying full complete sheets of 100 stamps for 10 cents . The dealers had pads of them which they were happy to get rid of .

It is no surprise that I seen new overprints each year of different overprints for the past 20 years .Even seen a collection of full sets overprinted from 20 different French towns at auction at Milwaukee Stamp Show a few years ago. Maybe the most popular stamp to put your own overprint on thru out the world.

After ready this post, I got out my (1961-62) stamp album to see what I had collected for German stamps with Hitler on them.
Shown below are the only stamps from Germany with Hitler illustrated on them, that was in my old album.

Any comments on this collection would be appreciated.
Also, I'm curious as to the missing "10" denomination in floortraders page.
