Thank you for posting the pictures and links.

Unfortunately, the cancels / stamps do not have anything I need at this time. Perhaps you could sell them on using the Sales threads / topics here or ebay or something.

There are some nice looking stamps there but for me, nothing.

Thanks agaain.

Looking at a borrowed Scott 2007 electronic catalogue, the Thurn and Taxis is worth $2.75 Mint Never Hinged, so yours, with the thin and hinge remnant, is probably worth that today in 2013, or less.

There is a note that reprints were made of these (pretty) and there was a note in script on the back.

Still going through this hoard a little at a time. I came accross these that I cant either read or place. The 3 large ones I presume are Russian of some sort, The light purple one maybe Britian, but the other 2....?

Need help on Country of origin.
Thanks loads.

The very bottom is what I THINK is a French or German newspaper stamp. I could be (and probably am) wrong.

I agree with ILS that the last stamp is most likely a newspaper stamp, but I believe it is Austrian. The violet stamp is from Great Britain. The top three stamps say Ukraine on them. The breaking the chains stamp is a mystery to me.

I believe Smauggie is right on the winged helm being Austria.

The breaking chains stamp is Yugoslavia. I have the same stamp myself.

The Canadian stamps are common and not worth much; you could probably get a couple of bucks on ebay for them if you draw attention to the nice CDS's & multiples.

Thanks for the help. I think what I am going to do is after I get it all sorted by country then I will offer up the smaller lots. then work through the bigger ones till I get rid of what I dont need.
Any ideas why there would be so much Magyar floatin around? I've been gettin a bunch as of late.

Hungarian stamps (Magar Posta) are unpopular among collectors are these stamps are numerous, of little value and make great filler for box lots.

(the last phrase was spoken tongue-in-cheek). If you buy box lots, you will likely get alot of that stuff.

Used Hungary or Magyar Posta stamps are rare and hard to get with nice cancels or on cover. The older Hungary stamps with Socked On the Nose SON cancels are sought after by cancel collectors as they are from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and usually do or can have different names for the towns than the towns are named today.

Oddly, the same lot with all the Magyar Posta, also had a fair amount of Ostereich, Deustches Reich. Not to mention the bat load of GB.
