Hello, I've just became interested in stamps when I inherited about 100 and I could really use some help! I really don't know much about stamps, I have some dated in 1800s that have been post marked and some old postcards. I'm also new to this sight so anything anyone can tell me would be very appreciated! thank you

Welcome Sandybones,
Feel free to ask any questions you have as someone here probably can help. You can also post photos of stamps, covers and postcards you want to share or have questions about. Protip - photos are best if you use a flatbed scanner to create the photos unless you are skilled with a digital camera and some people are.

Hi Sandy

Welcome to the forum. There are many many smart people here who know all about stamps and will help you. All you need to do is ask. You might consider starting by tracking down a few websites about basics. The American Philatelic Society, among others, have beginners' areas. Try this page to start:

and you will see there are many other articles that branch off that one

it's a great hobby

Hello sandybones, welcome to Stamp Community!

If your stamps are United States or Confederate you would attract the best experts by posting your questions or scans / photos in a USA section on SCF here.

Otherwise the Main forum section would do, but please title the thread / topic with a country name when you ask for help. This helps to get people whho know about what you are posting to help you more and more of them will look.

A general picture will do to start, if you wish, and then more detailed pictures will aid in identification or assessment of the state of the stamps (quality of condition) or the general grading of them.

That sounds really official, sorry, just post away and we all like to look at pictures and scommemts and questions about stamps.

Welcome aboard and welcome to the hobby. I get great joy and relaxation from my collection, I hope your does the same for you.

If you want to ask any question, ask it. It will be made much simpler with pictures, so I would suggest you take a little time to work out how to post pictures in your threads, life will be simpler for all.

Cheers,

John
