Do you think these "teeth-link contraptions" will really avert mailbox theft in high risk cities?

I have them all over my city, too. (No teeth-like contraptions in them, though.)

In fact, my local post office has a small island where three drive-up mailboxes are located. They are nearly always full, especially on Fridays/Saturdays ... so full that you need to carefully select what mailbox you use, as some are so full that a thief could easily pull out dozens of letters if they had a mind to.

This situation suggests that the post office needs to arrange for pickups more often (but that will never happen.)

The caption below the image states "postal service said it installed the choppers to make sure thieves don't steal meal". Apparently they're going for food too.

That would make way too much sense so the USPS won't do it.
