I like to use Gimp (free software similar to photoshop) to manipulate stamp images. I just got a nice tip from revcollector about inverting colors in Gimp. I decided to start a new thread to see if rev or anyone else has any Gimp tips to bring out watermarks.

I've read that you can usually see them by fiddling with levels, but I've had very limited success.

I have used GIMP just alittle, usually using other programs for my simple needs. I am also interested in hints and tips and tricks.

Here are a couple old posts of mine for how to use Photoshop to do similar things. The same techniques can be used in Gimp.

Thanks for the links, Postmaster. I guess it's time to upgrade our Epson Workforce 520, it doesn't scan film negatives.

Until then I can still do the postmark extraction, that's a cool trick.
