I am really struggling trying to identify China and Japan stamps. Are there any good sites or better sites ?? This is a pretty one, can't find it anywhere. Any help would be kindly appreciated.
This one is from People's Republic of China, issued Oct 1st 1959. It's the middle value from a set of 3 stamps commemorating the 10th anniversary of foundation of PRC.
PRC stamps are usually pretty easy to identify from the year & issue numbers running on the bottom of the stamp (ie. 3-2 on the left bottom corner means this is 2nd value from a set of 3 stamps).
Others (such as stamps of Taiwan, Korea, Japan) don't usually have this information; or they have got just the year part imprinted on the bottom/footer.
Some stamps from that area poses problems for me too, especially the overprints etc. Hope these urls help? BTW (which mean "By the Way" for the politically correct), I checked each of these urls first before posting them and they all opened up for me ok.
