This one is from People's Republic of China, issued Oct 1st 1959. It's the middle value from a set of 3 stamps commemorating the 10th anniversary of foundation of PRC.

PRC stamps are usually pretty easy to identify from the year & issue numbers running on the bottom of the stamp (ie. 3-2 on the left bottom corner means this is 2nd value from a set of 3 stamps).

Others (such as stamps of Taiwan, Korea, Japan) don't usually have this information; or they have got just the year part imprinted on the bottom/footer.

For those having problems identifying stamps from the Asiatic area, I would suggest the following links.

http://www.manchukuostamps.com/Manc...orgeries.htm

http://www.paperheritage.co.uk/articles/MLO.html

http://www.phsoch.org/shanghai-bilingual.htm

Some stamps from that area poses problems for me too, especially the overprints etc. Hope these urls help? BTW (which mean "By the Way" for the politically correct), I checked each of these urls first before posting them and they all opened up for me ok.
