Good day all,
I'm considering moving to hingeless albums for my US collection and have looked at Palo, Davo, Mystic and a few others. But I but am having reservations about customization of pages and am wondering how others have solved this issue and if one manufacturer has better support then the others for this issue.
My specific customizations needs are;
- On a few pages I would like to keep multiple copies of the same issue (for example, several copies of #1 and #2) displayed next to each other.
- I have some multiples (pairs, block or fours, etc.) that I would want to mount
- I also would like to mount a handful of covers in the album

I assume that you can purchase blank page stock from these manufacturers but can you also buy the identical mounts? Has anyone used 3rd party mounts with success? Are some of the hingeless albums easier to customized than the others? What solutions have you guys implemented to address your customization needs?
Thank you in advance for any feedback.

For my hingeless albums, I prefer the SAFE approach that uses a 2-part page rather than individual mounts attached to the printed page. There's a printed paper sheet, and then there is a separate plastic sheet with rows that matches the printed layout. There's frequently extra area on the perhiphery as the rows go across the whole page. This allows extra stamps to be placed on the page.

This model also allows you to (1) view the back of the stamp without removing it from the "mount" and (2) easily write in pencil on the printed page without disturbing any of the stamps.

Also, you can buy blank hingeless pages in various row height and number configurations to place in your albums for additional varieties.

It makes for a very homogenous presentation.

Here's a completed ebay listing showing examples of both the preprinted SAFE hingeless pages and the blank ones being used in the same collection. Be sure to scroll down and view the images in the body of the listing:

They're not the cheapest hingeless pages in the world, but I swear by them. The only time I've bought others (Palo, Davo) are when SAFE doesn't offer pages for that country or era.

Note: The plastic used in the sheets is VERY robust, much heavier than normal mounts, so your stamps are much better protected, but also results in very heavy albums.
