Anita Conti (1899 - 1997)

Anita Conti was fascinated by the marine world. She became the first French oceanographer. Born at the beginning of the 20th century, she developed a passion for the oceans early on. In 1935, she boarded the President Théodore Tissier, the first French oceanographic vessel. As a pioneer in climate issues, she wrote several books on the subject. In them, she warns against the overexploitation of the oceans and especially the risks associated with overfishing.

An American aviator, she became the first woman to complete a solo flight around the world.
Piloting a single-engine Cessna 180, she embarked on her historic journey on March 19, 1964,
and completed it on April 17, 1964, covering an impressive distance of nearly 36,790 kilometers.

Irina Burnaia (1909 – 1997)

Irina Burnaia was Romania's second licensed female aviator, earning her civil pilot's license on October 27, 1933.
She made history as the first woman to fly over the Carpathian Mountains in an airplane.
During World War II, she led the Escadrila Bugului, a squadron of postal and liaison aircraft operated by the Romanian government in Transnistria, a Soviet territory under German occupation.

Carolina Martuscelli Bori (1924–2004) was a pioneering Brazilian psychologist with expertise in experimental psychology. She played a vital role in shaping psychology education across Brazil.
Maria José von Paumgartten Deane (1916–1995) was a Brazilian physician, scientist, and pioneer in the field of parasitology. Through her work, she made significant contributions to the understanding of diseases such as malaria, leishmaniasis, and Chagas disease.
Sonia Guimarães ( 1957 - ) is a Brazilian Professor of Physics at the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica. She was the first black Brazilian woman to earn a doctorate in physics and has dedicated her career to improving the representation of black Brazilians in academia.

Márcia Cristina Bernardes Barbosa (1960 - ) is a Brazilian physicist known for her research on the properties of water.
Enedina Alves Marques (1913–1981) was a Brazilian teacher and pioneering engineer. In 1945, she graduated in civil engineering, making history as the first woman to earn an engineering degree in the country and the first Black female engineer in Brazil.
Bertha Maria Júlia Lutz (1894 - 1976) was a Brazilian zoologist, politician, and diplomat. Lutz became a leading figure in both the Pan American feminist movement and human rights movement.
Graziela Maciel Barroso (1912–2003) was a Brazilian botanist who has been known as a leading expert of the flora of Brazil, as well as a specialist of Compositae, a large family of flowering plants that consists of over 32,000 known species.

Quebec feminists

Simonne Monet-Chartrand (1919 - 1993) championed labor rights and social justice throughout her life.
She co-founded the Fédération des femmes du Québec and Concordia University's Simone de Beauvoir Institute, both pivotal institutions for feminist advocacy in Canada.

Madeleine Parent (1918 - 2012) played a pivotal role in unionizing textile workers in Quebec during the mid-20th century. She co-founded the Canadian Textile and Chemical Union and later helped establish the Confederation of Canadian Unions with her partner Kent Rowley.

Léa Roback (1903 - 2000) was a Canadian trade union organizer.
She became politically active in Berlin during the rise of fascism and later joined the Communist Party of Canada. A polyglot and a suffragist, she was a pioneer of feminism in Quebec.

Aleksandrina Halic (1941 - )

Romanian actress Aleksandrina Halic is known for her roles in films and television series, including Yet to Rule (2018), Las Fierbinti (2015), and Mamaia (2013). In the series Las Fierbinti, she portrayed the character of neighbor Aspirina, which brought her recognition among Romanian viewers. Her acting career spans several decades, during which she has performed in various genres—from drama to comedy.
