Quote:

Dear Abby: Over many years of travel in the U.S. and Europe, I have collected postcards picturing the main sights. Now it is time to toss the trip memorabilia, but the cards are in pristine condition. Any suggestion as to what could be done with them?
— Globetrotter Out West

Dear Globetrotter: If there are schools in your area that offer art classes to the students, you might be able to donate the postcards as material to be used in art projects. Or contact nearby senior centers and ask if they would like to have them to be used for discussion groups or art classes. (They would be wonderful for decoupage projects.)

DECOUPAGE -- really?

Jeez. How disappointing that our hobby has been forgotten by the mainstream.

One has to wonder if the newspapers are just recycling some old Dear Abby columns. References to decoupage, etc., sort of dates the article.

worse advice:

"invest in stamps, the supply will never grow"

or... "become a stamp dealer, the inventory goes up in catalog value every year"

and yes, Abby is no longer with us.

'Dear Abby' is definitely still around.

The column is current and carried by many newspapers -- it is now written by the DAUGHTER (Jeanne) of the original Dear Abby (Pauline).
