I stood in line for a little while at my local PO, but there were only 2 employees there. I had a good chance to look at everything while the line didn't move and didn't even see an empty display or any mention of Spongebob. I finally abandoned the line.

Has anyone here seen a Spongebob mailbox in their travels? Usually promotions like this are....... more... promotiony.

Just in case you missed I found two displays in New Brighton and downtown Minneapolis.

I think I saw that, Tom. I was just curious, it seems like either a minor promotion or the postcards were all snatched up within the first day or two. Or maybe because of the timing around the holidays, POs were too busy with other things to deal with it.

Tom, thank you! I sent an email to you.

We stopped by a tiny sub-station post office and asked about the cards. The lady behind the counter said she had received the display box, but no cards for it. Strange!

Got your email. This seems to be a comedy of error as far as far as this promotion is concerned.

We are back from an extended stay with my family in Kansas. They live in a tiny town outside of Topeka and while we were there, we visited several of the post offices in their area looking for Sponge Bob cards. Here's what we found:

Paxico, KS (population 220): We asked the postmistress if she had any cards and she pulled a box off her desk saying she had just gotten them. She gave each of my boys one. This being my parents' post office, we were there almost every day, but noticed that she never put the display up.

Wamego, KS (population 4,485): The display out in the lobby was empty. We asked the post master if he had anymore and he said someone took the whole stack the very first day he put them out.

St. Marys, KS (population 2,6,56): The display was on the counter and each child was given one card.

Maple Hill, KS (population 619): The display was in the lobby with only one card in it.

There are three post offices in Janesville, WI (population 63,588) and we never saw any cards or displays.

I wonder if the Post Office decided to send this to only small towns?

sdtom- Thank you for sending the cards. It was very much appreciated. Now that I have a few extras from Kansas, I will share the ones you sent with the kids in my stamp club. Many thanks!

Now that is what I like to see. The promotion worked in this case.
