I think that having the value of a stamp first, withouut any special postmark, is important. then add the postmark in to the value and the collector of these will be interested.
To tell, see if the stamp seems good by eye appeal alone, does it look in good condition?
Then, check the internet and
ebay, etc. to see if any of the placenames on your cancel(s) come up over time and what they sell for.
I sold som CDS cancels and some collectors do enjoy them. The rarer the stamp with the better the cancel the higher the possible price will go, only if you describe it correctly and fully.
Sometimes the home town names or towns of interest for some reason willl help the interest too.
