OK here's the best I can do with the inside of the turned cover. Sorry.
Can't see how nicely preserved the stamp is in the picture.

I was searching the web for info on 1922 twice used cover and my own thread popped up. I had added the interior pic some time ago.

I pulled this cover out again. Tried to get some legible pics of the original addressee. It appears to me to be a Madame Marguerite Roquefail. I think it may have been sent to a covent (convent) in France.
The original return address on the original back was a Mrs. C.T. Taggart in Rochester, NY.
Still doesn't explain how it was re-used with a 2cent stamp and sent to a new address in Rochester. (see original pic posted at top of thread).
I have not found another twice used cover of this era. But if the second user of this envelope was living in a convent it might explain the frugality.

Could you steam the glue joints of the envelope apart? That was probably how it was opened up the first time.

These are also referred to as turned covers.

littleriverphil, it's likely I could and I have thought about doing that. I think it might display nicely in a clear sleeve making it possible to see both sides. I hesitate because I don't want to steam the stamps off.
