Stamp Insider for January–February 2013

Happy New Year to All Our Readers, Writers, and Advertisers!

The January–February issue of the Stamp Insider, journal of the Federation of New York Philatelic Societies, is online and available for free download in PDF format or viewing online with page turning. It is available in both PDF and HTML5-friendly format at:

http://www.stampinsider.org

The lead article is "Nelson Mandela — A Philatelic Chronology and Tribute." Author Steve Swain explores the vast number of stamps that have been issued for the many aspects of the late South African leader.

Other articles include "Colonial-Era Letter Comes Home," describing a plea for help after the 1690 Schenectady massacre, "Dallas Philatelists Honor JFK's Memory," and the sale of the fourth uninverted Jenny sheet by the Waverly, New York, postoffice to a resident of neighboring Sayre, Pennsylvania.

The featured video — "Detroit River Mailboat Deliveries" — follows activities aboard the J. W. Westcott II, the only boat of its kind having its own ZIP code. George McGowan discusses the service in his column — The Mail Bag.
