From Grosvenor auctions recent (2013) prices realised.....£750 ($1200 approx).
No information other than what you already have given in details. Not sure what your unused example might fetch.

Terry

I suspect the reason for the lofty price for the card at the Grosvenor auction was the Seychelles CDS, showing the card was used from there.

This is one of my small treasures. I have no idea of value, I just love it.

Are there catalogs available (maybe at the Spellman Museum???) that would list this?? Which one? (I do realize that some early stationary fetches good $$s because of period use or city postmark.) Since this is at least 134 yrs and mint anyone have a probable idea as to value?

Higgins & Gage catalogs cover world-wide postal stationery, but they are in many volumes and costly to buy the whole set. You can just buy the volume you need if you search ebay or check with the APS Library. If I recall offhand while they are great for indentification they are also out of date and would not reflect the current global market in the least.

I just quickly found a listing for a mint copy on ebay with a BIN price of $9.50

Terry & Battlestamps thank you for the information. Battlestamps, is the WPX1113 a catalog number or the ebay listing #?? (if you know. The idea of joining the APS to use their online reference library has me thinking. Is their online reference library broad enough that I would be able to research this item on my own.??

It's not an ebay listing #, but it might be that seller's personal reference number. A number of sellers will have their own numbering system for their stock. I couldn't find any reference to WPX.

As for the APS, someone else will probably know more than me. I don't know how much they have online. (edit - I just checked their website - they have the catalogs, but not readable online).

This is some basic information about the catalog you can use for general information about worldwide postal stationery:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higgin...nery_Catalog

For many countries there's more specific catalogs on a country to country basis, i.e. if you're into German postal stationery get the specific Michel catalogue and so forth. It can get expensive to try and get them all. Hopefully, the APS can help out - or-

Again, ebay has a seller selling the whole thing digitially for $100
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Higgins-Gag...251212486701
- well over 2,000 pages, but hasn't been updated since the 1980's.
You can also buy it by the country/region as needed.

Thanks battlestamps. I guess a membership to the Spellman Museum in Weston MA (close enough for a sunny day drive)might be an answer to my reference needs. Or, maybe APS membership, and although not on line, possibly they provide look-up service via email (w/scan). I need to investigate those options further.
