Canada Post plans to eliminate home delivery soon, so the day-to-day contact with the mailman (or mailwoman) will soon be a thing of the past. Many people are quite upset by this. In my opinion, the debate is much ado about nothing. I have received my mail through a lock-box for many years (I live in a large suburban area) and it's not the least bit inconvenient. We still see our mailwoman quite often as she delivers registered or special delivery items, usually stamps being delivered from an out-of-country dealer. She is always impressed by the colorful array of stamps on the envelopes and it gives us something to talk about when she comes to the door. She is also quick to remind me that there are more waiting for me at the lockbox.
