I live in China but collect Canadian stamps (I'm Canadian) and I can purchase new releases from Canada Post, who will ship them free of charge to me here in China. Sometimes they carry stamps from other countries (I got the Doctor Who stuff from GB) but not to much material is available. I would like to get some American new releases, like the Inverted Jenny, the Harry Potter, etc but would like to find the cheapest and easiest method to get these stamps, either shipped to China or to my mailing address in Canada. Canada Post allows me to order online for overseas but the USPS does not and I don't want to deal with phoning them every time I want to make an order.

What is the cheapest method for a foreigner to purchase new US stamps?

You could ask someone here to send you some items in exchange for recent Chinese issues. Send me an email, if interested.

Yeah, I looked at ebay and saw that it does not include China, which is weird. I can mail a letter from the US to China but the USPS can't?

The exchange thing is a good idea. The problem is that stamp collecting is so popular, new releases are snapped up as soon as they come out. All I ever find is definitives at the Post Office. There is a two-story coin and stamp mall in Shanghai, which is a collector's paradise, but I am hampered by language. I am also wary of buying stamps here due to rampant counterfeiting. As a stupid foreigner, I am a prime target for selling fake stamps. Still might be a plan though.

ebay also wants $6.50 to ship International, which includes Canada. I know I am being super cheap here, but Canada Post ships to China for free. Hmmph.

One thing to consider is that it is difficult to get one mint stamp for many U.S. issues. You can easily purchase a minisheet, but that gets expensive.

For instance, the inverted jenny is sold as a sheet of six, so it is $12. I can't say that there is not a post office somewhere that hasn't cut open a package and sold them separately, but it would surprise me.

Anyone have luck convincing a postal clerk to sell you one jenny, or one Johnny Cash stamp (as an example)?

They are high priced, but Mystic sells singles of just about everything. I don't know if they ship to China, but I'm sure they'll ship to Canada, no idea as to the cost. mysticstamp.com

IF you want at your canada mailing Address you could become subscriber at USPS for year pack singles. Then only those which
USPS do not break and sell as whole sheet some other evenue like exchanging or buying from company. With exchanging with right people it is very benificial. As Partime said.
