Hi CollGStamps. Very interesting.

I've read your kiloware manifesto, KGV. It might be fun to sell, yet no fun to buy someting as expensive on paper (paper = 50% of the weight at the very least, also a minimum of 10% faulty) paying in addition for the shipping which is very pricy my way. Also one does not know exactly what is in there. In one of the lots I bought (not too expensive though) I had a few hundred ElizII penny values of 1960s included, in a different lot - all kind of other uninteresting small denominations en mass. So I concentrate on easier areas, yet when I see good Australia at sensible price, I tend to buy.
If a buyer does not know who or where the kiloware is coming from I agree very much with you.
But I do know where and who my kiloware comes from and that is very much to my advantage. To have experience in this buying area takes a lot of worry out of buying expensive kiloware. It makes the difference between a good profit or not so good profit.
A kg of Australia on paper close clipped has about 5,000 stamp in it. A kg of Australia off paper has about 15,000 stamps in it.
The not sorted $20 per kg kiloware on paper all 60c letter rate, when sorting has a reject rate of about 80% to 90% on a good day.
The sorted $60 per kg kiloware on paper all 60c letter rate, when sorting has a reject rate of about 20% to 10%.
Interesting to do the math. I know what I will get and the $60 kiloware works out cheaper for mailing as well. But I am always looking for 20% keeper kiloware at $15kg mailed but it only comes to me unsorted from 2 sources that I know of and I must buy 10 to 15 kgs at a time. Which equals a good amount of sorting time at one go.
It is interesting to break down the cost of a $2,000 kg on paper Australia International Post kiloware. Most of the damaged stamps are removed. But about 5,000 stamps breaks down to 1,000 stamps that sell for $5 each. Another 1,000 stamps $3 each. Another 2,000 stamps $2 each and a 1,000 stamps of heavy cancels or "as common as" low values.
We have a huge amount of stock of this kiloware processed and in stock books. On stand by we would have about a kg of kiloware on paper of the more common stamps that have a value of about $2. We are always looking for the very hard to get and hard to get stamps in small off paper lots. By buying these stamp off paper it stops a lot of damaged stamps getting through.
There is more profit in 60c kiloware than International Post stamps.
We have sent kiloware back to where it has come from as well!
