Hi everyone,

I am going through my father in laws shoe boxes of Kiloware. Finding mostly modern stamps but there are some older items. I'd like to get your thoughts on this sample, whether I should leave these on the torn away corner or soak them off.

Thanks,
Eagle

I would suggest keeping the entire corner so that the full postmark can be read. Although it probably won't make any monetary difference, my justification is that some future collector might enjoy seeing the complete postmark, rather than just two very common stamps. Besides, you can always soak the stamps off the paper backing at some future time; whereas if you soak off the stamps now, you can never put the stamps back on paper with the readable postmark ever again.

I'd vote leave them attached. For the reason's wt1 stated and that having them on the piece helps protect them. It's a nice sturdy backing.

This is almost certainly an E19 rotary, which was issued 11/30/51 rather than an E14 flat plate. You might want to perf check it and see whether it is 11x11 or 11x10.5.

You are correct revcollector, thanks for catching that. I've updated the topic accordingly.

Leave it intact because of the postmark. It may be of more interest that way to someone or even yourself down the road, you never know?
