I was looking at an item this morning on ebay. It had about 6 hours left. It was something that the seller had discounted from $24.94 to $19.95.

After I asked a question about the listing (nothing to do with price), the price bounced back to $24.94 before time expired.
And the time was extended out by two days.

Can a seller do that?

If there are no bids, I believe you can. Let me try right now with one of mine...

OK if there was a % discount, then it was probably a fixed listing. Unfortunately I don't have any fixed listings with less than 24 hours left so I can't test, but I did verify this auction listing I have that ends in 6.5 hours: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...STRK:MESE:IT

No bids and it would not let me change any prices or duration.

So you just need someone to check that has a fixed price auction with less than 24 hours to go.

eBay's rules state that you may not change anything about any listing except the picture when there are less than 12 hours or less left until the listing ends.

Perhaps when the 2 days were added on somehow (haven't done that myself) you Then have the opportunity to do things.

For rules look at the bottom of the main page or My ebay page at the Site Map link, that's the easiest way in to having most questions answered.

OK, thanks.
I asked the seller about it. He claimed the time was up on the auction - I didn't think so, but maybe that;s true. As soon as it ended, he eliminated the discount he had put up earlier.
Thanks for responding.

Discounting was something I was looking at to do other day. Tried it in a bulk way, over all our listings and managed to do a discount alright but none of our listing were apart of it........The mess I make at times!

But I do remember that the discount can be set for a certain length of time and can finish before the listing is finished. If I remember correctly.
