The early '70s? That's about when I first started collecting. My dad had some Missouri stamps, which I remember thinking looked pretty cool. He was complaining how the cost of postage was skyrocketing from 6c to 8c.

Speaking for the Canadian ones, there are various types listing the different postal rates over the years.

I would think that one could make a mini specialty for their collections with them.

After a while, some glassines were produced w/o postal rates but just had phone numbers and their website address. I have scanned both the front and back on one type. This is one of Canada Post's larger glassines.

There are a fairly good number of us collecting such postal ephemera. Such items are an important part of postal history.
