I recently cataloged a small mixture of Yugoslavian stamps and found the below. Is it a Yugoslavia stamp? I can't find it in my Scott catalog.

Thanks

Don

In the Scott catalog, Croatia #31(1941). There are perforation/paper varieties for this stamp that are not listed in Scott.

Yes, it is Croatia.

Now look carefuly and note the name label accompanying the illustration - Jajce. Jajce is a town in central Bosnia.

The Independent State of Croatia was a Nazi-compliant Quisling state run by the Croat Fascist Party (the Ustase) under Ante Pavelic. And its reward for supporting the Axis was to be given Bosnia as well, to persecute and exploit. For several years the name of Bosnia disappeared, and the whole area was simply 'Croatia'.

So, yes it is Croatia. But not Croatia as we know it, Jim.
