I got these in a lot with postage due stamps that I wanted. I have no idea on documentary or stock transfer stamps. Can any one give me a clue as to what I have?

If I am not posting this in the correct section can someone please move this.

The top three are the $2 1917 issue overprinted for stock transfer. The 1917 issue was one of the real workhorse series; it was overprinted for many different uses including, stock transfer, future delivery, narcotics, cigarette tubes, and silver tax. They were printed and used by the billions from 1917-1940. These are cancelled by perforated initials, a common method to prevent reuse. Alas, that makes them have essentially no value except as examples of the type. The other four are New York State stock transfer tax stamps. There are many other values up to the $1000, and many exist in a few types. As might be expected in a state that includes the New York Stock Exchange and Wall Street, these too were used by the billions.

Thank you, not sure what to do with them as I don't collect anything like this but I liked they are a different kind of stamp.

Just wanted to add this here rather than starting a new thread. We joked about this "imperforate variety" in an earlier thread, but it is quite easy to see perf remainders on the far left side, so this is just a trimmed version. What I like is the apostrophe in "stock". Thanks for looking.
