Hi once again!
Well, believe it or not, the auction item came in today's mail, taking almost 4 weeks to make the journey. The envelope was in relatively good shape, and there is no indication as to where it was hiding or who had it.

But, it is here, and I and the seller are happy once again!

Delighted to hear you received it. It's been ~18 months since my registered letter from Berlin was sent. For some reason, I'm not so optimistic about it ever showing up :)

A funny quick story about mailing to Europe. Long ago I sold a framed Coca-Cola pin collection to a person in Germany on ebay. It was a very large heavy framed item. I had a set of the space express mail stamps (http://www.collectspace.com/news/ne...02999a.html) I wanted to use and hopefully get back the used copies. I contacted the buyer and he agreed that he would mail me back the cancelled stamps. The postage with regular mail was close to $35 dollars for basic postage. However, with the Express Mail stamps on it, the post office thought that it was bring sent via Express mail and he got the package in 2 or 3 days! He was very happy and I got the canceled stamps :) I've heard other stories that Registered mail can be dreadfully slow.

landoquakes, Greetings:

Another fine example of my aphorism "indifference can make a difference".

Off topic, but I would avoid getting anything shipped from France wherever you are in the world, they take forever.

I had one package sent with tracking from just outside Paris, it took two days to get to Paris, then another four days to reach Calais, and sat around in Calais for FIVE DAYS before setting off for Dover.

Once it reached Dover at 3AM things speeded up and I received the parcel at 1PM,
so that's ELEVEN DAYS from Paris to Dover, then TEN HOURS from Dover to the north of England.

I get things sent from China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam etc and they arrive in half the time of similar things from France.
The problem, I believe, is the French land only postage service, which is the equivalent of third class postage.
