I recently went to a local auction to pick up some recent/very recent commemorative kiloware from Canada and noticed this cancel. From what I can tell this split ring cancel, from Benito, Manitoba (pop. 377)... I wasn't aware these cancels were still around.

Do any of you have recent split ring cancels like this? (feel free to post pictures). I'm curious if there are even more valuable than recent circular cancels. Don't think I'll be soaking this stamp off the paper.

I do have some recent split-rings. There are still a few around (mostly at small Post Offices - like the one you have).

Notice that the year slug is newer (small typeset) than the rest of the cancel. The slugs are removable and offices that still use these need the modern year slugs (I believe they are plastic, not metal).

Thanks for your reply 3Dadeo. Cool to see those small towns still using these cancels as opposed to the spray on junk in larger cities!
