Why are you buying stuff that never seen the country which is printed for or never seen the inside of a post office?
Well,I don't know. Perhaps he (or she) is a great collector of Napoleon memorabilia - philatelic or non philatelic.
Or perhaps he has an extensive collection of Togo from the German period to 2012 and wants to know whether he needs this to finally give him completion.
Or perhaps he is an inexperienced collector who saw something new that interested him, and bought it. And then showed it to a group of people who like stamp collecting, and asked a perfectly civil question, expecting an equally civil answer.
Or perhaps he is an Abba fan who buys anything that says 'Waterloo'.
Valjean - thank you for taking the trouble to post your stamps on our site. It is interesting for us to have a record of them - especially since they are probably not listed.
The problem is this: a lot of countries try to make money from philatelists by issuing stamps that are attractive in their content to stamp collectors. A lot of stamp collectors are interested in Napoleon, so this is a popular subject. The trouble is that often the country doesn't send the stamps to their own Post Offices or even authorise them for use. Stamp agents simply sell them direct to dealers or collectors. So their status as real stamps can be very dubious. This is probably the second most stultifying thing for the growth of philately as a hobby. The MOST stultifying thing is beginners' being driven away from the hobby by being barked at for daring to ask a question.
Enjoy your stamps.
