Russia issued two stamps on the Pulkov Observatory, which opened in 1839 and is located in Pulkovo Heights. The first stamp shows the observatory and F. A. Bredichin, V. J. Struve, A. A. Belopolski. Scott number 1722, issued July 28, 1954. The second stamp issued for the 150th anniversary depicts the observatory. Scott 5796, issued on July 20, 1989.   |

The United States issued a stamp on the Palomar Observatory that houses the Hale telescope, in San Diego County. It took 21 years from the beginning of the grant to the 200 inch telescope's use. Scott number 966, issued August 30, 1948.  |

Australia Hubble Space Telescope October 2, 2007 The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a space telescope that was launched into low Earth orbit in 1990 and remains in operation. The Hubble Space Telescope is a collaboration between ESA and NASA. It is a long-term, space-based observatory. The observations are carried out in visible, infrared and ultraviolet light with a 2.4-meter mirror.  |
