My minkus album has a place for this stamp. (with black dots in the title and denomination) I have been told by one dealer there is no such stamp. Is there?

Hogwilly, welcome to the forum. Scott 4737 is an 86c Tufted Puffin, with an orange date. 4737A is the same stamp but this time with a black date. Could maybe the Minkus number be 4737c?

Peter

I do believe Minkus had their own catalogue numbering system. If that is indeed the case, then a number in a Minkus album probably refers to a number in a Minkus catalog. You didn't specify to which country in your album the 4737c belongs. While we usually assume US as the default, that need not be the case. You might include the country name, then perhaps someone with a Minkus catalog can check the number. This is all guesswork, of course ... but it might bear fruit.
