I can't believe people read that as "huge quantities of stamps" . We have a problem of people not reading correctly .

Well... you had previously posted:

From those 15 huge boxes ,only two boxes went home with me ,guess were the other stamp related material went .

It's not really a leap.

You can talk to Neil C. at Regency ,because he knew what I was doing ,or I can scan the invoice here and you can follow the link to Regency Stamps prices realized with the APS bug next to each bulk lot . THE APS DOESN'T THROW IT AWAY ,THEY SELL IT TO ME AND I THROW IT AWAY

You volunteered to scan the invoice so we can follow the link to Regency - hopefully this will clear up the matter of our reading comprehension.

So what is the real story behind all of this throwing away of stamps into the trash if some may have come to the wrong conclusion about all of this throwing away of stamps into the trash?

In the stamp community there has been and will continue to be the issue of throwing out the previous collectors stuff. It is and will be around for a long time ,Your binders and albums don't fit into my collection . Yea you could buy nice albums books and binders but after 20 or 30 years they have a natural appearance of looking beat up . All those stockbooks get loose over time and don't hold the stamps snug and why people spend so much money on supplies puzzles me . I seen 20 and 50 dollars binders holding 5 dollars worth of stamps. Most of what people donate as extra stamp related material is 90 percent junk . Over 20 times I have gone to stamp auctions and purchase large lots and filled the back of a Ford SUV and took home 800 lbs of boxes and by the next weekend 80 % of those purchases the following week is at the curb ,waiting for the trash man for pickup .In the story above the Regency lot came with boxes filled with yearly supplements and tons of used glassine stock pages in binders . My wife doesn't want closets or the garage filled with boxes ,so the best thing is to donate that stuff to the curb for the trash guy .

When you been around the big stamp sellers in the auction business you get to see many nice huge collections like a 20 volume International were the pervious owners or the dealer removed some countries or even a few pages from a big multi-volume collection and the remains are sold at auction as a worldwide collection, it leaves those 20 binders without value . I hate to think of all the binders and cover books that were discarded after I sold the covers to a dealer who sells BUCK-A-COVER at stamp shows . It is a waste of time dealing with this material and I am talking about 200 to 400 lbs a year for the past 30 years . I agree with a friend who owners one of the major stamp auction firms in the U.S., price it for the stamps that are collectible and forget about the rest because it has no value .

No, the best thing is to contact local stamp clubs and see if any of it is wanted for their children's programs. THAT is the best thing rather than heading for the nearest dumpster as soon as you can.

P.S. I cannot count the number of times I have found a gem hidden in someone's supposed "junk" lot simply because they either missed it or were not knowledgeable enough to know the distinction. Obsolute album supplements and supplies I can understand, but stamps themselves should NOT be relegated to the trash heap, no matter your personal assessment as to their lack of value. Personally, I find kiloware useless, but I know that many people find enjoyment going through it and would never throw it out.

Just because YOU find no value in something, doesn't mean that something is valueless.

For any collectable, storage space is always at a premium. Dealers and collectors who buy collectables in quantity have to make decisions about what to keep and what to dispose of. It's their material and their decision on how and where to dispose of surplus stuff. It's impracticable and costly to hold on to unwanted supplies and stamps until someone comes along and says, "I'll take it."

While it's admirable to give it to someone who might find pleasure in going through it or using it, it costs money to find those people and ship it to them.

Stamps tend to be easier to store or ship in bulk rather than stamp related supplies such albums, etc.
