Here is another photo of it with a black background. I can try to find something better if needed. Thanks!

What you are doing is posting stamps that are potentially worth many hundreds of dollars... they deserve a nice close-up photo
Your Two pence Blue is from 1840 and is a far more rare stamp than the Penny Black just to give you an idea of worth. Quality means everything,of course, and a lot depends of that.

lol I know I just got too excited and took the photo with my iphone. I am in the process of taking more intricite photos of them and reposting if needed. I literally knew nothing of a "penny black" until last week so stumbling up one a Two Pence Blue is even more of a head scratcher for me. I didn't even realize what it was....

Upon further inspection on the two pence blue I am seeing that in the word "two" the t and the w are not attached and there is not the "o" flaw either. Should this lead me to believe that this is an 1840 plate 1?

Ah... I cannot see the details that you can as the photo is not the best. There are only two plates for this stamp and ,as you have very quickly learned , there are flaws that can identify the plates. The TW joined flaw only affects certain stamps in a sheet of 240 of plate 1. I'm not sure, from your photo, of the check letters on your stamp. As always, detail is always a help to identify so, from what I can see, I can definitely state your stamp is either plate one or two
