Anyone here can suggest someone who is expert on stamp that would help us below.

1. Find the country and date of issue.
2. Examine for an inscription.
3. Pay attention to stamp watermarks.
4. Watch out for unusual stamp prints.
5. Identify the stamp's catalogue number.
6. Type of paper used.
7. Color shades
8. Host of other variations.
9. Help identify which stamps need for grading.
10. Help us provide prices for each of the stamps.

That's about all of us altogether I think. Some are expert in some things and some know just enough of something to make that special difference.

Some are special in one area like US or another country. A big stamp store or auction house would have many different experts to draw upon to get down to the nitty gritty of some area or country or specialty and then again they may have only some geneeral experts who know what people are generally looking for and / or what is making money now and what has made money I the past.

A good bit of this and that and everything.

It all takes time or a bit of experience.

Very good questions all, thanks for asking and posting.

Please feel free to ask away on here SCF with different posts on different sections of all of the forums to draw the attention of specialty people.

1. Find the country and date of issue.
Someone with extensive/specialized world stamp catalogs.
2. Examine for an inscription.
Someone with a magnifying glass.
3. Pay attention to stamp watermarks.
Someone with a watermark tray and some lighter fluid.
4. Watch out for unusual stamp prints.
Someone who has access to stamp forums or stamp magazines which might report these.
5. Identify the stamp's catalogue number.
See 1.
6. Type of paper used.
See 1.
7. Color shades
See 1
8. Host of other variations.
See 1.
9. Help identify which stamps need for grading.
Someone who can collate/catalog/assess items 1 to 8.
10. Help us provide prices for each of the stamps.
Someone who has a) stamp catalogs for catalog price. b) access to ebay for more realistic prices. c) has a knowledge of auction house prices realized for a price range regarding "better" items.

It is possible to have just one person to do all that but even experts get it wrong occasionally so perhaps a "team" effort is more what you need.

# 11

The type of ink used to cancel a stamp. Does it fit the criteria at the time a stamp was issued?

Just thought I would add that in.

My local Craigslist has perhaps a similar request. The gentleman in question has seemingly come into some stamps via buying a storage unit, in exchange for an expert tallying up for him what all these thousands of stamps are worth, he will allow you to make him an offer....oh, and he has 3 "stamp books" that you can spend your time using. No takers so far as I know.

The answer regarding looking at ebay for current prices so to speak should also be taken as what the stamp(s) is/are actually sold for, not what it is worth.

Sometimes ebay sales can be a spur of the moment, good luck timing, oh I want that now because I have just seen it somewhere else, pretty and will make my album page look good now, what I am thinking about and would fit the room or mood or whatever.

All of that is fun to sell to and realize that someone has had fun buying from you and will probably come back for a second helping when they wish to be as pleased again.
