I I have a question on UK stamps, and hope I am in the right place.

Re the 19p 1994 Childrens' Christmas Play series .

I have several of these stamps. They all have one bar tagging, but the bar is in different places. Is this normal?

Go to World Modern Stamps Mint and Used. You'll probably get answers there.

The stamps are cataloged in S.G. Concise as having one phosphor band... which is normally a central position on sheet stamps. There was a booklet of these 19p stamps issued and, while I'm sure they would all have one band, I'm not certain of the position as booklet stamps can differ from the sheet ones and the bands can be printed double width covering two stamps giving one left band and one right band on adjoining stamps. I don't have these stamps but someone with a Specialized Catalog may have more info.

I have that set used with CDS 'socked on the nose' cancels. The set is one of the most attractive of the GB Christmas issues. Stanley Gibbons Concise Catalogue only states:

1994 (Nov). Christmas Nativity Plays. One phosphor band (19p.) or phosphorised paper (others).

Nothing about the positioning of the phosphor band. Might just be a quality control problem at the post printing stage. I haven't any more detailed catalogue or information on this. Maybe onr of our GB experts will enlighten. Attached image of mint 19p stamp.

On perusing my boxes of "stamps to be sorted one day", I find the task not only unfinished but, indeed, unstarted.
However... delving into the box I found no less than five of the 19p Nativity stamps from 1994 and can post a photo of the phosphor band (tag) in question. The five stamps I have all come from counter sheets and all have the band in the same position. I cannot comment on any differences in tagging position that may or may not exist on booklet stamps...

Should David Y's stamps vary significantly from the one pictured than it may be worth investigating or confirming.

I have just checked 12 copies and all are in the same position as scotzm's.

I also checked the booklet [x 20] and all stamps have the Phosphor band [tagging] in the same position as the sheet examples.
