I am a total newbie to stamp collecting. I recently purchased a Harris Independence stamp album with quite a few stamps in it and was wondering if any of them are particularly valuable?
Thanks,
Bill

First, welcome to the board. Regarding your inquiry, some pictures would be helpful. There's always the possibility of something valuable in any album, but it depends on the actual stamps, not the album, per se. However, keep in mind the Harris Independence is considered a beginner album, and as such has spaces (and pictures) for mostly common stamps. The previous owner could have put some older, valuable stamps in there, but people who tend to spend a lot of money on stamps tend to buy higher-end, more complete albums as well. It's unlikely there's much of value in there, but you never know. Surprises can lurk anywhere. If you can post a few pictures you'll get plenty of input.

The first pages with spaces usually have the higher values. As TheArtfulHinger has mentioned, those are beginner albums. I have several that I have acquired buying boxed lots and have yet to score any high value issues. Found some really cool ones I didn't already have, like some of Farley's Follies.
Enjoy the hunt, but beware.... It's addictive! :)
