Upon the royal visit of HRH Prince Charles (the future Charles III) to Canada, I was perplexed to find that there are no Canadian stamps with his likeness. Elizabeth II was commemorated as a princess (#246) Edward VIII was commemorated as the Prince of Wales (#193) Elizabeth's and William's (the future William V) weddings were commemorated (#276 & #2478) George's (the future George VII) birthday was commemorated (#2686) The above was found on an internet search. Poor Charles - no stamp ever issued for his birth, his investiture as Prince of Wales, his two weddings, nor any royal visit as prince. I wonder why that is?

...(the future Charles III)...
Not necessarily... he can choose his "kingly" name. In an attempt to curry favor with royalist supporters he would probably choose GEORGE like his grandfather George vi...making him George vii. Hopefully, before that happens, the entire "royal" family, along with all the royal postage stamps issued, will be consigned to their rightful place...the rubbish bin. |

Given that this year 2014 commemorates 200 years of US-British friendship. |

The Canada Post Stamp Selection Committee steadfastly maintains that three years notice is required for new stamp designs. So, pick one, all or, add your own guess to: Perhaps the committee members didn't get the memo, three years ago, about this visit. Perhaps the members were too busy reading their Superman comics. Perhaps they were too busy deciding on Chinese New Year stamps for the next millennium Perhaps they didn't/don't care about Charles. Perhaps they were busy designing the recently-released 22-cent stamp which they no doubt knew about, three years ago, despite this year's 'surprise' increase in rates. Is anybody betting if the committee won't quickly approve a new Charles stamp soon after he becomes King...or will there be a three-year wait? The mind boggles. |

XNBer...
Well said.....I agree 120% with your points.
Charles can only hope that Polo is on the list for sports since we have had hockey and football etc. We might see him on his steed scoring a goal. |

no one really care about him anymore. We would prefer focus on his son's wife, and hope for a double abdication of EII and Chuck to make room for a more photogenic and younger couple to represent the crown |

After 8 years since the first post, the situation has not changed: Canada has still not issued a Charles stamp. They'd better be prepared,,, Title adjusted as per itma... |

that should read H.M. CHARLES III - if he chooses Charles as his kingly name - and not H.R.H. |
