I'm unsure if there is a forum etiquette thing I'm missing, so I apologize in advance, but for other forms of research I am familiar with, I've always had success casting the net wide, consulting multiple sources, looking for multiple points of confirmation, and then consolidating results while citing my sources.
As per results if I find anything good I will absolutely share. But the first step is better darn pictures. I playing around with the idea of getting a photobox type link I can share exclusively for chronicling what I find and discover in these boxes. I can of course take some close ups of individual items, but since it appears there are multiple mini sets or collections within the overall collection, I think there's some value in chronicling related items together too--so long as you can clearly view them!! |

Kailin - As stamp collectors, the devil is in the details. We are graphic-intensive. Personally, I need closeups so that we can easily read all the writing on everything or I amnot comfortable giving any advice. The items you have do look interesting. |

Of course when doing research, it is good to cast a wide net and consult multiple sources -- especially since people (or at least I) can be wrong sometimes. However... let me phrase in a different way. Let's say I email 4 different cab companies and ask them to pick me up at 4pm... what happens when 2-3 cabs show up?
I can't speak for the others, but the help here and at other forums is free and I help when I can on a voluntary basis. I learn a lot from the questions and answers. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel if someone else has already invented it.
I'm not ragging on you. I'm just asking you to save some other collectors on other forums a lot of redundant effort and keep them updated if you still want to involve them. You clearly have a lot of interesting postal history that many here and in other forums would be interested in. It's just nice to keep everybody on the same page.
Thanks for sharing your inheritance. I hope you decide to keep it and expand upon it. |

Seriously thank you all. I haven't gotten too far into it but truly appreciate the help & advice. I've been coming back here more because y'all are so responsive! But I'll try to remember to share to update across the board.
About to fire up laptop and see what I can do to make picture sharing easier and more detailed.
Thanks again! |

Much better! The writing/print is much more readable. Yes, you do have a first day cover -- one that was actually used for mail service, has signatures, w/ cinderella. Very interesting piece as well as contents. Looks like you have some event covers as well.
It's good to have a group photo, followed by photos of individual pieces. It makes studying the material easier. Enlarging the main photo doesn't always help because of the overlap.
Well done. Should be an interesting batch of stuff. What Glen has to say should be very interesting. |

Lots of good individual pics this time. The covers/letters/correspondence are very readable. Excellent. Most of the stamps I see so far are common to mild premium. If those are the 1c Franklins you mentioned in the other forum, then that design is relatively common compared to the earlier 1c Franklins. So far, it looks like the bulk of the value will be in the covers and correspondence -- especially since the correspondence has clear historical value. The covers with the cinderellas should get good attention also. I'm sure Londonbus1 will be happy when he sees those. A really really nice inheritance! k |

I would like to also advise you to remove any "newspaper" clippings from the envelopes and put them in some type of archival type of protection as newspaper clippings are notoriously acidic and can discolor or brittle the covers themselves. Sorry about the run on sentence! |
