Question About Booklets...?

Hi guys...Here is a question that can be argued back and forth...If I have a Scott # 488a booklet as shown below from Unitrade, then here are the questions.

1 - If I take one stamp from a Scott # 488a booklet, does it revert back to a Scott # 488...?

2 - If I have one stamp left attached to Scott # 488a booklet, is the single stamp still called a Scott # 488a...?

As per Unitrade there are four (4) types of booklets for this stamp.

Scott 488a
Scott 488ai
Scott 488q
Scott 488qi

The different booklets are numbered differently for their tagging ('q' ones are WCB) and whether the booklet selvedge is on the left or right (right selvedge is 'i')

A single stamp from a booklet is either Scott 488as or 488qs. The 'a' versus 'q' is based upon the tagging ('q' ones are WCB), and the 's' signifies that it is a single stamp from the booklet.

Your single stamp example (last scan), looks like it is from a Scott 488a booklet (as the selvedge would have been on the left and there is no sign of WCB tagging).

Unitrade does not differentiate between a Scott 488as that is a corner stamp (ie. 2 sides are straight) from a selvedge on the left (Scott 488a) or right (Scott 488ai). Likewise for the Scott 488q and Scott 488qi WCB panes.

The answer to both your questions is NO. A single stamp whether unattached or attached to a Scott 488a panes is Scott 488as.

A single booklet stamp (488as) is not exactly the same as a single sheet stamp (488) in this case since a booklet stamp (488as) will have either one or two strait edges whereas a sheet stamp (488) will not. This applies to this issue.
