I have a local stamp company that does monthly auctions. I was able to win a few nice Canadian lots that for some reason didn't attract a lot of attention.

Quebec Tercentenary 5˘. This one is a very nice upgrade from my used way off center piece that currently sits in this spot.

From the 1935 KGV pictorial issue the 1$ Champlain statue. Last months auction I won another copy that had a facial thin that I missed when bidding. Actually got this MNH very well centered piece for less.

Rest of the Canada won in auction that arrived today. My Canadian collection for some reason was missing the entire Peace issue of 1946 so quite happy with this group.

It's always nice to find something that has a personal connection, isn't it? A few days ago, I bought an Esperanto postcard from 1930 with a picture of a site in Japan that I visited 2˝ years ago. (I'll post it when it arrives.) A few years ago, I bought an Esperanto postcard from Germany mainly because it was mailed to an address in Berkeley, California, in the same block as where I currently work. And when I recently searched for my hometown on ebay, I found a cover mailed to my uncle in 1949!

The Esperanto postcard that I mentioned earlier arrived today. Mailed from Japan to Switzerland in 1930 (Showa 5), it features a photo of the Chumon (middle gate) at the Todaiji temple complex in Nara:

Here's a photo of the same gate, viewed from a different angle, that I took when I was there 85 years later:

I got my copy of Encyclopedia of United States Stamps and Stamp Collecting.

I skimmed it and not as "wordy" (lots of dense sections of text) as I thought but no idea about content coverage.
