This was an interesting piece of mail. The envelope was sealed in clear plastic (not easy to see in attached in plastic). The bar code sorting label was applied to the exterior of the wrapping. The envelope was sealed since it was a fold out card like a greeting card. The envelope had stamps but obviously not cancelled nor does it appear there was an attempt to cancel it. Most sealed items usually have some prepaid indication and NOT stamps. |

A Delcampe purchase arrived from France today. Elapsed delivery time to the mid-atlantic US was 17 days. Quite a few Sc. 2446/Yvert 2912 in wonderful shape -- no scuffs or dings at all, and no marker-monkey! The enclosure I will post in the French engravers thread shortly. |

Urgh....an envelope with Scouting sheets and part sheets. The problem is that they are just slipped into a normal manilla envelope you'd see around the office. Not designed for shipping, no protection from bending or moisture of any kind. These came from an auction, but they were treated like a gas bill. |

Got the Nazi Hero Memorial Day set of stamps. Paid $10 for them and they came in a mini binder. I will probably leave them in the binder versus putting them in my album. A very nice set of MNH stamps.

Today I received a credit card statement that was mailed 10 October and was due 15 November. I pay my bills by computer, so no trouble there, but good grief.

Today brought two new-to-me catalogs to add to my library.
2013 Facit Specialized Gibbons Balkans 5th Edition
I'm especially looking forward to going through the Facit. I liked what I saw from a quick perusal. I may look to buy a current edition next year.

Chris, Your UN crypto stamps come from New York, Vienna and Geneva (not Brussels). The denomination on your scratched stamp shows CHF 8, the CHF denoting Swiss francs. |

Thanks for the correction. Will edit the post. This is why I enjoy this forum, helps everyone stay accurate -- I realize it is Geneva but for some reason I sometimes mix up the Geneva office with Brussels!!!
I hope you and other members find this souvenir sheet and the tie in with the 1950 commemorative and 2018 definitive interesting anyway. |
