For secondary storage purposes I've also invested in a Blu-ray reader/writer and some Blu-ray recordable discs that stores up to 100 GB each. This to mitigate data degradation. Great for images and digital recordings of vinyl records. |

Well, today I arrived home to find some auction winnings had arrived. Great additions to my Coast Guard postal history collection. Over 1,000 covers (ship, unit, station, lighthouse, and lightships), photos, programs from commissioning/decommissioning and change of command ceremonies, newspaper clippings, and more. I'm overwhelmed thinking about digging in! |

shermae, are you sure the stamps on the sides were not hinged? From here it looks like the darker areas on their top were hinged. On the right side stamp, it even looks like the bottom left side of the hinge is ready to be peeled off. |

Rob Roy- I was being sarcastic. The entire set was described as MNH, yet these 3 stamps were included. |

I wonder what color the seller's face will take if you mail him that "Mint Nastily Hinged is NOT the meaning of MNH". |

@shermae I hope you get your money back.
Could it be the stamps were mint and the seller never hinged?
Across all platforms, there remain a lot of sellers who do not understand that MNH is 'mint never hinged' and not 'mint not-at-present hinged'. I, frequently, see sellers even posting pictures of the back with the hinges still attached. The platforms should ban such people from selling after two or three offenses (always give a chance to redeem oneself). |

NSK- so far he has not responded to my concerns. I think this is simply a case of bait and switch, one of the perils of collecting MNH stamps. Obviously, there is no way any of those 3 stamps could be mistaken for MNH, even with a perfunctory examination. I think sellers also often don't look at gum disturbances as part of the hinging equation. MNH stamps should be free of any gum disturbances. Another issue is calling stamps MNH when there are foxing or toning spots. But that's a subject for a different rant. |
