Amccleaf1 inquired where I acquired my two Netherlands Antilles Queen Wilhelmina stamps, I purchased them on ebay from a dealer in Texas, but, alas, unlike the Netherlands based dealer in the ad posted by NSK, my dealer didn't offer me the option of parking my purchase temporarily in a "winkelwagen". Too bad, I think that would have been fun. Actually, I looked it up and winkelwagen simply means "shopping cart" but I like the sound of winkelwagen much more.

Do not forget to scrape your throat when pronouncing that 'g' in 'winkelwagen.'

That seller is one of the bigger dealers in the Netherlands. They do have the option to change the language.

Just arrived this morning. 2002 should be adequate since my focus is mainly definitives 1905 to the 1980s. As with several other of my catalogs written in foreign languages, I will probably create a laminated sheet of reference translations that fit inside the catalog. Really excited to find additional varieties for Denmark that fit into the scope of my collection.

Waddsbadds...I agree, 'winkelwagen' has a nice ring to it. Can't wait to bring it up in conversation.

On 18 October (2023), the Norphil Blog, posted that

Quote:
18 October: Royal Mail have announced yet another "problem with supply": the PSBs will be shipped "after 26th October". You would have thought that they had ordered these early enough from the printer. Maybe there were errors in the make up, like with the Shirley Bassey PSB.

The Prestige Stamp Book was scheduled for issue on 19 October 2023. Yesterday, 28 October (2023), I received my example of the Prestige Stamp Book. Allowing at least two days for mail from the United Kingdom to be delivered to a Dutch address, it was distributed to standing order customers no later than 26 October (2023).

Today I got a copy of the Catalog of United States Perfins. Excited to start working through and cataloging the few I have purchased so far!

After going about as far as I could go with mainstream Great Britain stamps, and deciding to stop adding new issues after 2018, I started adding less conventional material: a complete plate number set of the 1864 penny red (minus the impossibly rare plate 77, of course), Queen Victoria stamps with my initials as the corner letters, as many of the postage dues on cover as I can find, postal stationery, and a few revenues, which were issued for every monarch between QV and QE II, except for Edward VIII, Most collectors know about the highly desirable 5 pound orange Queen Victoria postage stamp and its slightly older and slightly less well known counterpart, the 5 pound telegraph stamp. Very few collectors, probably know about the many different Queen Victoria revenue stamps issued in a 5 pound denomination (some even higher!). here's one I found issued for the District Audit, which was used by treasury auditors for checking Local Authority accounts and which paid stamp duty on audit documents. I would imagine that many of the ones that survived are tucked away in the archives of municipalities and will probably never make it into the hands of stamp collectors. But this one did, and even though I have both of the QV orange 5-pounders, I thought it would be fun to have one of the other lesser known ones as well. This one is listed in the Barefoot catalogue of GB revenues as #10 from 1882, with the two orbs watermark

Got a couple of souvenir sheets from Zambia. They are eventually going to be in my Disney around the world collection. Zambia was an easy one. To date they've only issued the two sheets depicting Disney Characters. Don't have a clue how to put a photo up here. May because I'm so new here. Anyway I am continuing working on my Family Birth Year sets (Including my own). Completed 1949, 1952, 1971,1976, 1979 and 1982. About 70% complete with 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2010.

Received this in yesterday's delivery, originated in Cincinnati, OH. Apparently USPS mechanization there is not handling flats very well in regard to cancellation. At least no marker monkey intervened. First I've seen these one dollar stamps in use, they look good on a piece of mail.

Last week, I wrote that I was expecting my 2023 Scott catalog volume 4A and 4B. I received my package and in did not include 4B! I wrote to the seller and explained their description and ask where my volume 4B was and they promptly....... refunded my whole amount and just gave me the Volume 4A.
It was a pleasant transaction in that regard, but now I need to find a volume 4B.

wkusau, yes, I've had that same issue buying older Scott volumes from online sellers. They tend to use a stock photo and description and fail to realize that it often includes 2 volumes. I would recommend to anyone making a similar purchase that they verify with the seller that both volumes are included before finalizing the sale.

Same thing happened to me. These big volume sellers don't know about stamps or stamp catalogs. They simply gave me a credit - I went to a different vendor to get the correct pair of volume.

Yesterday I received 36 lbs of assorted WW from a recent auction. Preliminary inspection looks like I did reasonably well. Definitely additions to my Big Blue and general WW Harris. An entire Redbox of Russia, so that will be fun.
