I recently acquired an old British Europe album by Scott publishing. It included pages for the AMG issues in Germany and Austria. Does anyone know if Scott used to include in AMG stamps in their National and American albums. It would make since to me that AMG stamps should be a part of a U.S. specialized album and catalogue. Any thoughts or observations on the subject?

I have never seen a Scott US album with AMG, I have a 1951 American and a mid 50's National, as well as later Nationals,no AMG. I have a Scott Grand Award WW album that has the AMG listed in Germany and Italy, My Minkus Global has AMG listed in Germany and Italy as well, I do not have a post 1940 International but I would guess that it would be the same.I do have a Bush AMG album. |

Perhaps if the issues were US stamps that were overprinted AMG, then they would be listed under the US. However, since AMG stamps were printed specifically for Germany, Austria, France, and overprints on stamps of Italy, they are listed under those countries. Just supposing.... |

Thank you for the replies. The British album I mentioned was from about 1948. I suppose the page may have been added by some previous owner along the way.
Barhata your observations seem logical. Although I think I will make the AMG government issues a section of my U.S. Possessions and Administration album.
Is the Bush album still available or do I need to look for it in auctions, etc.? |

They're listed under German Occupation Stamps, immediately after Germany. |

The French AMG stamps have been moved by Scott. What was previously 2N1-10 is now 475-476H and 2N11-20 is now 523A-J. Scott decided since the Allies had recognized General De Gaulle's Provisional Government and hand the stamps over to them prior to issue this was not really an occupation. I'm not exactly sure when they moved them, but they were moved in my 2019 catalog.

The US Possessions Philatelic Society http://uspps.tripod.com/ includes AMG within their umbrella. I include them in my collection. I think they are just as appropriate as say Danish West Indies that you find in the US Specialized catalog, but we never issued by the US. |

There was no Allied Military Government in France, so the stamps should never have been characterised as such. |

Not in France, the French opposed that idea.
The AMG also involved the UK. It makes me wonder how such stamps would catagorise as USA. |

NSK - that was my thought as well since it was "Allied" Military Government, not "American". All the same, I include the German, Italian and Austrian AMG with US related material since they were involved. |

I think that AMG is "Administration Millitary of Germany" not "Allied Millitary Governement" I collect these stamps on: Germany-Allied Occupation of Germany-Americain and British Zone (Bizone) After the american and britih printings was the third:german (Brunswick) print. The first difference from american issues are the added white ornaments: Stamps of german print: |
