In many parts of the world, Easter is a time for not only dyeing boiled eggs, but also of decorating empty shells with intricate patterns and motives. On the Spanish stamp, eggs are being decorated for the festival of painted eggs following Easter in northern parts of Spain, Asturias.

Hi Nethryk, I also have this freedom torch but have not been able to find out why the arm seems almost severed. Do you have any more info on it? K.

Kris Rascher - In my opinion, Victor Whitely designed this stamp so as to depict a torchbearer's arm rising though clouds, which frequently wreathe Mount Kilimanjaro (see photo below). I do not believe that the artist intended to represent a severed arm in this stamp's design.

Nethryk, I had not noticed that the arm looked severed until you pointed it out. I guess this is a small offset of the white printing? I have a "normal" variety.
