Hands On Stamps

The FD cancellation for the new set of Leonardo stamps (see above) is done in remarkable detail; Leonardo's anatomy sketch of the palm-side of the right hand. (And the Queen looks good as well, just had her 93rd birthday last week.)

The three cogwheels working together are a symbol for the International Labour Organization. A new Swiss stamp designed by A. Rupp, and the three colors are a great idea. Try turning one of the wheels - it can get a bit complicated.

Today is World Environment Day, United Nations; A big hand and a bigger appetite, but a very small world! The day is hosted by China this year with the topic of "Clean Air"!

This 1986 stamp of Bolivia publicizes "The International Year of Peace" of the United Nations. This campaign was supported by the International Red Cross and some other organizations.

Liechtenstein issued a set of 12 "Industries and Occupations" stamps in 1984 (Sc.#s 787-98). Hands are visible on all of these stamps, but they are prominent on the 5, 10, 60 and 150 rappen values.

These two 10 taka, high value stamps from Bangladesh's set of 4 publicizing the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona were issued in setenant sheet format. They promote peace and friendship through athletic competition.

I have only found one stamp issued commemorating International Left Handers Day (August 13 each year). This was released by the Croat administration for Bosnia and Herzegovina (Mostar) in sheets of eight on August 13, 2015 (Scott #414).
